The Okanagan Valley is one of the premiere birding hotspots in Canada. A small finger of semi-arid desert habitat that extends north from the United States into British Columbia, brings with it a number of birds that cannot be found anywhere else in the country. For instance, in the sagebrush and Ponderosa Pine forests, Pygmy Nuthatches, Canyon Wrens, Black-chinned Hummingbirds, Flammulated Owls, Western Bluebirds and Lewis’ Woodpeckers can be enjoyed in Southern British Columbia, but nowhere else in Canada.

Winter birding is also quite interesting in the Okanagan. Why not set up a day tour to find Boreal Chickadee, Northern Shrike, Pine Grosbeak, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Three-toed Woodpecker, Bohemian Waxwing, 7 species of gulls and many water birds in the winter!
